Position Available: Information Systems Specialist I

Job Summary

Assist in the automation and ongoing management of activities for a small but growing Internet marketing firm. Part time, permanent; possibly moving to full time.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Database - Analyze, design, implement, and manage databases to automate processes currently being performed manually
  • Programming - Write code to automate processes currently being performed in Excel
  • Website development - Create WordPress websites from templates and customize per specifications. Modify website code on numerous other websites
  • Support miscellaneous ongoing technical tasks as required for both clients and the organization

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Completed junior year in a bachelor's degree program
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher in job function related courses (database, programming, spreadsheets) or job experience in specified areas with better than average recommendation
  • Previous job experience

Abilities Required

  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Experience or education in analyzing, designing, planning and creating small data bases
  • Experience or education in creating database forms using SQL, populating with raw data, performing queries, testing, security set-up, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Experience or education in creating websites, preferably using WordPress or similar content management system. Light graphic design skills a plus.
  • Proficient in HTML and/or PHP, as well as CSS.
  • Skilled in one or more programming languages (Ruby, Perl, C++, Java, etc.). Ability to program in Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Internet savvy; intuitive in new application environments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and research solutions, as well as work with a team in communicating tasks and generating and exploring new ideas.
